Billy Corgan does like to make music. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman might not be selling records the way he and his band once did, but all parties involved stay elite in concert. If you want to rock out, the Pumpkins are a band for you. Maybe even if you want to classical out.
While Corgan and the band will be going fully electric for the upcoming Rats in a Cage tour, which begins on September 30 in Columbus, Ohio, Corgan's shockingly popular classical take on one of the Pumpkins' best albums, Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, is also adding new dates.
Maybe Europeans just really like their heavy rock mixed with opera. (All of the classical dates currently are in Europe, you see.)
More dates added to A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness Featuring Billy Corgan tour
To be fair, when Melon Collie was released in October 1995, eventually selling more than 10 million units in the United States, the album already had orchestral flourishes. Making it more of a classical piece with Corgan's voice isn't altogether strange.
You can try to get tickets to the new Corgan shows on the Smashing Pumpkins' official website. Get them soon, or they will likely sell out.
