In 2024, at the end of the last Stray Cats tour, guitarist Brian Setzer had a health scare. He was feeling no pain, but he could no longer play the guitar. He learned he had an autoimmune disease that made his hands feel like gloves.

He couldn't strum, and, at times, he couldn't even tie his shoes. He sought medical assistance and mentioned on social media in February 2025, the Mayo Clinic would play a part in his hopeful road to recovery.

Whatever the medical process was, it seems to have worked. This week, Setzer and the Stray Cats announced a run of dates for October and November that will see the band play 20 shows. If you live in the American South, you're out of luck, though. Nearly anywhere else, you should be able to go to a show near you.

Brian Setzer and the Stray Cats announce Fall tour

The Stray Cats bill themselves partly as the best rockabilly band in the world. That is difficult to argue with. The trio's 1982 compilation album, Built for Speed, hit number two on the Billboard charts (the record was a combination of songs from the Stray Cats' first two albums released in the UK), and featured top-10 singles, "Stray Cat Strut" and "Rock This Town."

The band had another top-10 hit in 1983 with "(She's) Sexy + 17," which seems a little creepy nowadays. That was not the band's intention, though.
