Each decade of music has some cult favorites that people who grew up in that era will never forget. These musical artists might not get a bunch of play on radio stations, but in many cases, they should. The artist produced some great music that still needs to be heard.
This is the case with BoDeans, who began in Waukesha, Wisconsin, in 1983, and keep kicking around. Most of the band members have gone on to different things at this point, but one of the two co-founders, Kurt Neumann, remains the key figure in the band. In other words, if you want to see BoDeans live, the origin of the band is still involved.
The band might be best known for their 1993 single, "Closer to Free," which a year later became the theme song for the FOX series, Party of Five. But BoDeans wasn't slightly popular because of creating poppy tunes.
BoDeans hitting the road in 2026 for an anniversary tour
The band is roots rock at its best, not trying to overdo anything and remaining true to the original mission. This is why if the band, which is going out on a 40th anniversary tour in 2026, is anywhere near you, you should go see them.
The band won't be playing in the American South, however. If you live in that region, you will need to travel a bit.
