If you are a fan of former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, it's a good time to be alive. If you are in charge of booking his tour dates, you likely need a break.

News for fans is great either way. Byrne is going to release his first studio album since 2018's American Utopia on September 5. The new record will be called Who is the Sky? and will feature a number of guest appearances. These include Paramore's Hayley Williams and St. Vincent.

The album will be arranged by Ghost Train Orchestra, a New York-based chamber ensemble. Will the new record be a chamber piece? Doubtful. The first single from the album is available now, and it is called "Everybody Laughs." It's jaunty pop, but not chamber music.

David Byrne set to return with new album and huge tour

After the album is released, an expansive tour will take place globally. Between September 14 and December 6, Byrne will play shows in the United States and Canada. He will spend January in Australia and New Zealand, and spend February and March in the UK and Europe. All the dates are below.

In a press release, Byrne said he has been spending his time between his 2018 album and the recording of the new one doing a bunch of cooking, making Indian and Mexican foods, as well as doing a lot of drawing. Fans are ready for him to be back.
