Depeche Mode has been delivering musical gems for over 40 years, but as diehard fans know, the group has consistently outdone itself live, surpassing the excellence of their fantastic studio albums. In concert, the band is heavier and with a fuller sound. It's not a gig, but an experience.
This means that if the remaining members of Depeche Mode, Martin Gore and Dave Gahan, were to release a live record or concert film, fans should rush to listen and watch. One will not be disappointed. A case in point is that seminal concert film, Depeche Mode: 101.
The band will soon have a theatrical release featuring songs from their 2023 Memento Mori tour. The film was directed by Fernando Frias, with the concert taking place in Mexico City. That last part is important.
Depeche Mode will deliver new concert film on physical formats
While the film, M, will certainly showcase Gore and Gahan performing on stage, there will also be an interwoven narrative exploring how Mexico's culture views death. This ties into the theme of Depeche Mode's most recent studio record.
After the theatrical run is completed, on December 5, Depeche Mode will release the film on DVD and Blu-ray formats, as well as CD and vinyl. The DVD and Blu-ray will be coupled with a CD. The vinyl will come on four discs.
