It's been too long. The last time Amy Lee and her excellent band, known as Evanescence, released a studio album was in 2021. The Bitter Truth was still stuck in COVID-19's shadow, and the world was a different place. The album didn't sell well, and neither did its predecessor, 2017's Synthesis.
Those records might imply that the band releasing a new album wouldn't be overly great news. We have the brilliance of Evanescence's first couple of albums, and that magic might never be matched.
Or maybe it could. The group has to be hungry to give fans their best, and that includes a bunch of 2026 tour dates. As of this week, fans also know that Evanescence is going to do everything they can to make next year special. A new album will arrive in the spring.
Evanescence appears to be putting out a new album in 2026
There could potentially be a catch. Amy Lee broke the news about the new album while speaking with KROQ's Kevin Ryder, but she didn't say that spring was an absolutely firm timeline for the release. She also said she was still writing lyrics for the record, meaning it's not yet fully recorded.
At least, tour dates are firmed up. Maybe listens for some new songs during a show, too.
