We are now a few weeks into the fan voting for the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and one band continues to dominate. Of course, even if that band gets in, other musical artists should as well. In fact, a few artists further down on the voting total so far are surprisingly not already in.
The leader since voting began has been Phish. The jam band that has had a lucrative career through their various tours alone is fairly unique. Perhaps the only band like Phish that is already in the Rock Hall is the Grateful Dead. Neither band sold an immense amount of records, but their tours were (and are) transformative.
The issue for Phish and Phishheads is that, unfortunately, fan voting counts as very little in terms of potential induction. Once the ballots are cast (and the voting will continue until April 21), all the fan votes make up just one single ballot. The rest is up to music historians, journalists, and executives.

Still, all of the top five fan vote-getters in 2024 made it into the Hall. This is potentially great news not only for Phish but also for Billy Idol and others. Idol deserves to be in as an influential member of Generation X and his early solo career alone. He also achieved some excellent commercial success.
What is a bit surprising is that neither Joe Cocker nor Chubby Checker are yet in the Hall. Both are the kind of artists that the Rock Hall likes to award, and while both were limited to the length of the peaks of their careers, they still created some iconic songs.
For fans of the bottom five musical artists in the fan vote, they should know that is likely an indication that those performers have no chance of being inducted in 2025. Perhaps next year it will be more friendly. If you want to vote, just click here.
