Faith No More seemed done, and they've been telling fans as much. The band hasn't toured since 2016, and their last studio album was released the year before that. The prior record was released in 1997.
In other words, one might have given up hope of ever seeing or hearing from the band again. Then, this week, the band teased something on social media with the logo connected to the group, with a concert audience underlaid and "2027" on top. What did it mean?
Now we know. According to Faith No More bassist Bill Gould, during an interview on the Rock Talk podcast, the band will tour, seemingly globally, next year.
Faith No More will tour globally in 2027
Gould said, "We're gonna play. We're definitely going to be in Europe. We're definitely going to be in South America, and Australia, and the US... I think probably our shows will start around like January or February next year."
The exact dates of the shows aren't yet known, and there is no firm timeline on when they will. The hope, of course, is that since the group has already announced it will be returning to touring, the concert schedule will soon follow. Fans are ready for tickets now.
Maybe this will be the start of a rebirth for Faith No More. Even though they went 18 years between records, their most recent one, Sol Invictus, was well-received by both fans and critics. In other words, the band hadn't lost its touch even while being out of touch for almost two decades.
Not that the specific members haven't been busy. Frontman Mike Patton has been a part of loads of other bands, including Mr. Bungle. He's tried various styles, and is more artist than rocker for the most part. That should fit with any new vision of Faith No More.
Drummer Mike Bordin has played with metal icons, such as Ozzy Osbourne. He remains a viable member of the rock world and was simply a great piece of the overall excellent Faith No More puzzle.
Fans are likely ecstatic that the group is touring again, and, according to Gould, no matter where you live, you probably will have a chance to see Faith No More live. The hope is that the band doesn't stop with live shows, however. The next step before or after the tour, could be a new album. The band hasn't said that will happen, but there is nothing wrong with wishing.
