One thing that stands out about musicians and their work is how music really can stand the test of time. Be it a song you heard years ago and remember every word to, where you were when you first heard it, or maybe how it became the soundtrack to a life event you experienced. There is something that will always keep us going back for more of those genres we know and love.
For musicians, releasing an album to the world is a very huge and personal thing. How it is received is understandably something that many face apprehensive thoughts about. But there is something to be said for an album becoming so important in people's lives that they gather around to celebrate an anniversary of the record.
Multi-talented singer, songwriter, and producer Roosevelt is celebrating a big anniversary next month that fans can get excited about. This will mark a decade since the release of his debut self-titled album. Here is what we know so far.
Roosevelt’s debut album anniversary re-release
The talent of German musician Marius Lauber, who is known as Roosevelt, has undeniably changed the face of what was once a niche genre for fans globally.
Back in the summer of 2016, following a string of successful singles and EPs such as "Night Moves," "Hold On" (both of which were included in the debut album), "Elliot," and the massive anthem "Montreal," Roosevelt released his debut album, which turned fans' heads towards his up-and-coming talent. There was also a cover of the Womack and Womack hit "Teardrops" released shortly after the album, and this single is going to make it to his anniversary vinyl.
On August 21 2026, Roosevelt is dropping a very special, limited-edition tenth anniversary vinyl album to mark a decade since the drop.
This album is very special, not only because it celebrates his first one, but because for fans it really did change the face of the electronic synth/indie pop genre. This is an extremely limited drop of only one thousand copies internationally, which makes it quite the exclusive grab.
It is also worth noting that the vinyl is a double LP and white in colour, subsequently mirroring the iconic font colour on the debut album. There is also a signed postcard included with each vinyl; the photo is a small portrait of Roosevelt. One of the best things about the vinyl is that it will feature seven unreleased titles, one of which, "Soleil," is available to stream now on most platforms.
The sad news is that currently, all issues are sold out as fans flocked to grab their copy. However, there is a limited-edition football jersey celebrating the anniversary available. Will there be more copies released? I am not sure, although I do hope so. If you really wanted a copy but missed out, it is worth keeping an eye on resale sites, as some may begin to appear on them this summer.
It is not all bad; for fans who missed a copy, we can know that we will hear the seven new titles and enjoy them being out in the open.
Forwarding ten years from 2016, Roosevelt has had a wealth of success so far, including a collaboration with Nile Rodgers and a further three albums, bringing his total to four. There are no live dates at the moment, but Roosevelt is no stranger to a tour, so let’s hope fans can see him soon and hear some of these songs live!
