Fat Joe has built a reputation not only as a rap veteran but also as a master storyteller. On his podcast, the Bronx rapper often revisits moments from hip hop’s most intense eras, and fans know there’s usually a surprising twist. This time, Joe took listeners back to the early 2000s, when tensions between him and G-Unit were at their peak.

During that period, the beef between Fat Joe and 50 Cent dominated rap headlines. Diss tracks, public shots, and industry fallout were all part of the chaos. According to Joe, the rivalry didn’t stay limited to records and interviews; it spilled into real-life confrontations that many people never knew about.

On a recent episode of Joe and Jada, his podcast with Jadakiss, Fat Joe opened up about an alleged run-in with G-Unit’s Young Buck. The story caught even his co-hosts off guard, reminding fans just how heated that era of hip hop truly was.

Fat Joe looks back on G-Unit-Era tension

Fat Joe explained that the incident happened in Chicago after one of his performances, right at the “height of the beef.” He claims things escalated quickly once he left the stage. According to Joe, someone from an upper level began shouting at him, though at first he couldn’t tell who it was because it was “dumb dark.”

Moments later, Joe alleges that Young Buck made himself known by yelling, “Yo, Crack! You hear me n**!”** Joe says he responded by throwing a water bottle and shouting back, “Come down here, psy!”**

The situation reportedly drew attention fast. Joe claimed police stepped in and formed what he described as a “barricade” to keep things from getting further out of control. When Buck eventually came downstairs, Joe said the rapper tried to downplay the moment, acting like nothing serious had happened.

A Story that surprised even hip-hop insiders

According to Fat Joe, the tension didn’t fully disappear. He alleges that once Buck moved too freely behind police presence, Joe and his crew stepped in and handled the situation. While Joe insists the story is real, even Tony Yayo, who was part of the podcast discussion, appeared surprised by the claim.

The G-Unit beef famously included 50 Cent’s diss track “Piggy Bank,” which targeted Joe’s career and success. The fallout reportedly cost Fat Joe major brand partnerships, including deals with Air Jordan and Reebok.

Looking back, Joe framed the story as another chapter from a wild time in rap history. Whether Young Buck ever responds remains to be seen, but the moment adds yet another layer to one of hip hop’s most unforgettable eras.
