Rock is in a weird spot. The genre once ruled the charts and gave us iconic songs. Now, unless you have a radio station near you dedicated to simply playing straightforward rock, you might have to go to your favorite streaming service and search for something.

The genre is not completely dead. The issue is that it has been broken down into so many subgenres that one might have to ask what is rock and what is not. That is simply quite sad.

Thankfully, headbangers and people who love volume will have several things to be excited about in 2025. A new tour by a legendary band? Check. A fantastic new documentary about some rock gods? Check as well.

Five things classic rock fans should be extremely excited about in 2025

Grammy Awards could feature some of your favorites

There are not too many new rock bands named in any Grammy Awards categories, but what classic rock fans should hope for is that many of the bands that are nominated have a performance as well. This would include acts such as Jack White, Green Day, and the Black Crowes. All of them not only put out excellent records in 2024, but all are great live.

Led Zeppelin documentary debuts

The band had never sanctioned a documentary before, but on February 7 fans will get to see Becoming Led Zeppelin only in IMAX theaters. This makes sense as that kind of theater is going to be best for the sound of the band. Jimmy Page has promised us full songs, and not snippets, so this should be quite interesting.

You will be happy if you are going to Vegas

If you have never been to Las Vegas and were just waiting for your favorite classic rock band to take up residence at the Sphere, 2025 could be your time to go. This is especially true if you love hair metal bands of the 1980s. Rod Stewart, Styx, and the Eagles will take a turn at the venue, but so will Motley Crue and the Scorpions. Oh, and Sammy Hagar is scheduled at the Sphere as well, but you can probably skip that one.

AC/DC is back!

For those about to rock, you can salute AC/DC in North America live beginning on April 10 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The tour will run through May 28 in Cleveland. Don't worry, though. The band is not just hanging around the northern Midwest. The gigs will cover all of the United States with one stop in Vancouver. This could easily be the band's final tour so catch them while you have a chance.

A lot of new rock and metal albums

You wouldn't know rock is dead based on the abundance of new albums coming out from rock and metal bands in just the first few months of the year. On January 10 alone 17 bands will release albums. That is followed by even more on January 17. Rock might not be dead after all, and 2025 could be a huge comeback year.
