Flogging Molly gives update on future of the band

Will the band perform again?

If you were looking forward to seeing Flogging Molly in concert in 2025, that is very unlikely to happen. The hopes are that the band will return in 2026, but there are more important matters at hand. The music has become secondary as it should.

The band was set to go out on yet another tour, though Flogging Molly never seemingly stops doing live gigs, but needed to cancel. At the time, fans only knew that frontman and founder Dave King was dealing with a "serious medical condition." That was in February. In March, we got more details.

King's wife and band member, Bridget Regan, posted on social media on St. Patrick's Day from the band's official accounts that King had suffered a brain hemorrhage and had to undergo two different surgeries. His treatment was done at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. The second surgery was on February 28, and, according to the post, the prognosis is good.

King, the post said, wants nothing more than to get back to making music. The 63-year-old is still easily young enough to make a full recovery, and the hope is whatever caused the hemorrhage will not affect his ability to play the several instruments he performs. That is not meant as some callous hope from a fan, but what King wants to do.

He wants to play music and Flogging Molly fans want him to do so. They also hope to see the band perform live soon as well.

The group has been playing live for decades, and they will travel nearly anywhere to be heard. But the point is not to sell records, but to entertain. As good as many Flogging Molly albums are, nothing compares to their live performances. The energy the band brings and the elite-level fan interaction is tremendous and not to be missed.

There is, of course, no timeline on King's full recovery. That can change from person to person. At least, we have the bands music to hold us over until Flogging Molly is on the road to entertain us again.
