Two songs into the upcoming Foo Fighters' new album, and one thing seems clear: This record is going to be a rager. Maybe there will be a more mellow track or two, but as opposed to 2023's But Here We Are, which, for reasons more personal to the band, was more tame, the new record will have a punk ethos.
Your Favorite Toy will be released on April 24. The first single, which shares the name of the album, was straightforward rock and thrilling. What fans couldn't have known then was whether the rest of the album would sound the same way. Based on the second single, "Of All People," it will. That's a good thing.
Sonically, the track is akin to Green Day. A solo guitar begins the song that lasts only a few seconds before the full band kicks in. From there, the drums propel the track at breakneck speed, but in true Foo Fighters style. The production is clean and precise; each instrument, including Dave Grohl's voice, is clearly understood and felt.

The verses are succinct, leading to a bridge that ends with a cathartic chorus of "Oh no," and then just before the song quickly ends at the two-minute and 33-second mark, the lyrics, "Of all people, you survived," finish the track out. It's short and loud and wonderful.
