Charli XCX's social media has officially gone silent, and many are wondering what this means for the British pop star's career.

On February 24, 2026, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Charli XCX went on a mass unfollowing spree on her Instagram. By the time it was over, the "Apple" singer's following was at 0.

She also deleted several posts, only keeping three up on her page: her "Brat" album announcement, a post for Yves Saint Laurent, and a video about her mockumentary "The Moment." Additionally, Charli XCX changed her profile picture to feature a grey stone wall.

Is Charli XCX retiring from music?

On her finsta, 360_brat, the singer shared a message to her fans. In it, she thanked her fans for their support and expressed her love for them. She ended the post with a cryptic, "See you next time."

The message was vague, leaving many to wonder what this means; is it the start of a new era, or is she taking a step back from music? Instagram is not the only platform she went dark on.

That same day, Charli XCX shared a tweet that read, "You can't dread the end when it's over." Soon after, she privated her account. As of this writing, her tweets are still not open to the public.

With "Brat" having been released in 2024, the chapter of the iconic viral album has closed. But what does this mean for Charli XCX's career?

Some fans believe that the singer's sudden social media blackout may mean she is retiring. Though she has not confirmed the news, many have started preparing for the worst: that she may no longer be releasing bop after bop.

It doesn't help that in a previous interview with Billboard, Charli XCX half-joked about retiring as a musician after "Brat" and how she'd want to pursue an acting career instead.

"I saw this tweet the other day that was like, ‘Does anyone think that this is Charli’s last album?’… Then I was like, ‘Actually, that could be cool if I didn’t really make music anymore after this.’ I’m definitely thinking about it because I really want to act. I don’t know. I’m just so deep in this, I can’t see outside of ‘BRAT,’ but it’s funny."

However, others believe this is a clever marketing ploy to get fans interested in Charli XCX's new era.

On Quenlin Blackwell's "Feeding Starving Celebrities," Charli XCX spoke about possibly releasing "XCX World." The record, which was initially set to be released as her fourth studio album, was shelved by her label after several tracks were leaked online.

With her suddenly going ghost on social media, fans believe this is Charli XCX's unique way of hinting at a new musical release.

Currently, the star has yet to come back to social media or make a statement on her future activities. But one thing is for sure: her Angels will be waiting patiently for her return.
