As the seasons change, one thing that always stays consistent in my world is music. Regardless of the time of day or how I'm feeling, there is always the perfect rock song for it. Sometimes, maybe even a few.

Every month, or even as the weather changes, I always feel that I'm overdue for a new playlist. As spring approaches with sunlight lasting well past 7 P.M., trees becoming full with leaves, and the perfect weather to roll your windows down...

It is time for what I believe to be the essential music lineup for spring.

Five rock songs that are essential for the spring

"American Pie" (1971), Don McLean

If you're looking for that perfect "feel-good" anthem, well, look no further. "American Pie" is truly the anthem of pure bliss. Including levels of acoustic guitar, loving piano, and plenty of life.

I can remember a memory of working in a deli where "American Pie" played on the radio, and as I was singing along, customers started to join in as they waited for their sandwiches. What sounds like it came out of a movie was truly real life.

A moment of a perfect song bringing people together is the essential track as people begin to join each other in the great outdoors, enjoying life as we all know it to be.

Any time I hear this song, I look back on that pure moment and remember just how lovely it can be to enjoy the world as the seasons change, and more so, how much music can uplift our spirits. With that in mind, how can one not smile both inside and out?

Time keeps slipping into the future, but "Fly Like An Eagle" is timeless in its creation. It is full of rock synthesizers; it is psychedelic in every way; it is the Steve Miller Band.

"Fly Like an Eagle" (1976), Steve Miller Band

Built on compassion and charming lyrics, this song channels liberation and encourages moving forward, leaving what doesn't suit your journey to fall beneath you. To "fly like an eagle until you're free," it's perfect as spring channels the feeling of everlasting bliss.

Full of psychedelic optimism, the Steve Miller Band harnesses that "feel-good" vibe that comes with music, and for them, it will never expire.

Channeling the youth, "Fly Like An Eagle" targets the idea of having no constraints, as many young people use spring and summer as a time to be free from what keeps them inside. Spring truly is the start of thrill, long nights, and feeling free.

"Ain't Wastin' Time No More" (1972), Allman Brothers Band

The Allman Brothers Band always had a way to make their lyrics poetic, elegant, yet so raw when paid attention to. This song uncovers that with the help of faith and true friends, you can find your true strength and make a life that is yours.

Finding peace from the stars above and love for life, you can overcome your struggles instead of feeling dull. Truly a perfect anthem to dust yourself off, get back into the world, and enjoy every second.

This subtle reminder is about not letting time slip by and gets anyone ready for that perfect season of spring. Without the Allman Brothers Band, how else can we feel that change we desire?

"I've Seen All Good People" (1971), Yes

It doesn't get much more positive than this. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful chants found in progressive rock, given by yours truly, Yes.

Though the lyrical content itself is simple, the meaning is radiation, focusing on pure spiritual enlightenment and positive energy. Focusing on all the good people one can surround themselves with. This masterpiece is beautifully written, and the delivery? Astronomical.

The two-part masterpiece is a true psychedelic experience. How does this fit into the spirit of spring one may ask? Well, seeing the sunlight until well past 7 P.M. and the weather being so enjoyable, it's only good for the soul to feel much more uplifting during this time of year.

What also helps? Songs such as "I've Seen All Good People" only enhance the experience of love and joy. Especially when it's created by the masterminds of progressive rock, it's hard not to feel happier after listening.

"Walk of Life" (1985), Dire Straits

The perfect send-off for this spring lineup goes to none other than Dire Straits. With an upbeat track known as "Walk of Life," it was born to be a hit.

Written as a tribute to street performers who are in it for the craft and not the money shows that the greatest pleasures can never have a price tag. The joyous and resilient spirit of the song naturally makes you get up and move.

Genuinely one of the only songs that can turn a bad day into a good one. This anthem is meant to uplift, motivate, and bring joy to those who come to listen. So, why not make it the anthem for a season that's about new growth, great memories, and the simple pleasures life brings?

"Walk of Life" is a reminder that we all have priceless love for the things that we find passion in. Our walk of life differs, yet we all walk together. It just makes it better when there's a catchy guitar riff to keep us all going.

Though so many other beautiful songs can be added to such a lineup, this is just the start of a beautiful spring season. May we all enjoy the "walk of life" and soak up all the lovely weather, memories, and lovely tunes that come along with it.
