Heartfelt and heartbreaking.

Fans of Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus know that their relationship has been strained for some time. Clearly, fans don't know everything. We can speculate that a big part of the issue stems from Billy Ray divorcing Miley's mother. But there is always a lot more to every story.

While heartbreaking at times, Miley Cyrus has given her fans real looks into her life by creating very specific songs. Instead of the generalities of how the world is bad or the world is good, Miley knows when to throw shade (maybe about Liam Hemsworth) and when to give people their flowers.

She is one of the more genuine pop artists working today, and while her songs are not always perfect, they at least come from an organic perspective. She might sometimes cross over into the world of being too personal. But surely, in most of her tracks, people can find their own connection.

Miley Cyrus expands on a newly dropped song about her relationship with her father

That might be the case with one of the songs just released on the deluxe edition of her visual album, Something Beautiful. The track is called "Secrets," and Miley had previously spoken about the tune being about her relationship with Billy Ray. She didn't stop there.

On an Instagram post, she expounded on the theme. Miley wrote, "This song was written as a peace offering for someone I had lost for a time but always loved. In my experience, forgiveness and freedom are one and the same...This song is for my dad."

Of course, looking at the greater view, we could all do with forgiveness and freedom. The world feels smaller and more spiteful now. Too many people carry anger about others for their views on subjects. We might not always get along, but we can at least reach for some understanding of one another.

Close personal relationships and the healing of the same are even more difficult. Maybe Miley Cyrus isn't blameless in her fractured relationship with Billy Ray, we don't know. But she isn't done trying to make things better, and we should do the same with our own problems.
