Why, Steven Patrick Morrissey, have you forsaken us? After all, we are the ones who have stood beside you for five decades, arguing on your behalf to all the haters. And yet, ultimately, you cancel on us half the time you are supposed to appear somewhere.
No friend would treat another friend this way because the two people wouldn't stay friends very long. Maybe it's worse in Morrissey's case because he has made what one would assume would be a fairly nice living from the money that fans have paid to buy concert tickets, merchandise, and records.
And if a fan was planning on having a bit of fun in Las Vegas in the middle of August while going to see a Morrissey residency, be forewarned. The fan can still go have fun in Vegas, hopefully, but they just won't be seeing the former Smiths frontman do any shows. Those have been cancelled.

Of course, they have. One might be more surprised when the singer actually does a scheduled show at this point. According to We Heart Music, Morrissey has cancelled concerts nearly 25 percent of the time in his career. The number grows closer to 50 percent in recent years.
The question becomes: Why do we remain such doofuses for buying tickets to a Morrissey show, only to likely worry about how to get our money back once a show is inevitably cancelled? We don't need that stress, right? We earn our money and are spending it on someone who hasn't earned our trust recently.
Maybe the run of concerts in Vegas, which were set to take place between August 14 and 19, weren't the icon's fault. He (allegedly) wrote on his official website, "The shows cannot happen for logistical reasons outside of Morrissey’s control," with a header that read, "Morrissey doesn't cancel Vegas."
Still, cancelling so close to the dates implies other issues were afoot. Moreover, if these were the first dates that Morrissey didn't do, fans might be more understanding. He just cancels so many shows that any reason for doing so feels false. Maybe the venue was an issue in Las Vegas or some other valid reason, but Morrissey just has far too much history of having the same concerns.
The most maddening part is that when he does actually perform as scheduled, he is fantastic. Morrissey obviously has retained his unique talent, though he has also somehow become even more mercurial as he gets older. Eventually, fans won't have the same level of interest in him, though. He doesn't meet his good friends often enough.
