If you grew up in the 1980s and somehow avoided Mötley Crüe's "Home Sweet Home" video, consider yourself lucky. Back before MTV figured out that fans could fluff up the numbers, the video reigned supreme on the video channel's top-10 list.
The song was fine, but it wasn't worthy of being ranked number one every single day. No song is, really. But yet, now there is a great reason to stream the video, but there's a catch. Stream the new version. That is the one with the country icon (and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee) Dolly Parton.
The pairing seems ridiculous. How can a hair metal band that somehow maintained a level of popularity without producing much music of substance record a single with Dolly, someone who has maintained a level of excellence that few ever reach? It's easy. It was all for a good cause.
Mötley Crüe and Dolly Parton collaborate on an excellent revision of "Home Sweet Home"
The "Home Sweet Home" single will be part of Mötley Crüe's upcoming album, From the Beginning, which works as a greatest hits record, ahead of their scheduled Las Vegas residency. The album will drop on September 12. The tracklisting is below.
The single, though, will have some of its proceeds benefiting Covenant House, which is an organization that provides shelter, food, and more to youths who are homeless. Let's hope the Crüe and Patron collaboration stays as the most-streamed video on YouTube (the new MTV) for weeks because of that.
