An honor to be there.

Ozzy Osbourne had a funeral procession last week in his native Birmingham, England, that allowed fans to lay flowers near his coffin and people to honor the heavy metal icon. His actual funeral was a private affair, however.

Ozzy was laid to rest by a lake at the family estate. This is what he wished would happen, and the area gave his wife Sharon and their two grown children some privacy for the important moment. But the family was not alone. There were lots of musicians at the ceremony, too.

His Black Sabbath bandmates, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, were there. This was just a few weeks after the band had played at a farewell show at Villa Park in Birmingham, and just a week since the shocking death of Ozzy.

The list of musicians at Ozzy Osbourne's funeral is impressive

Not that the vocalist wasn't in poor health. He was, as the world knew that he was suffering from Parkinson's disease. The surprising part came when he died a little over two weeks after the goodbye gig. Fans and the bands that played at the show understood Ozzy was ailing, but not so close to his end.

Besides his Sabbath bandmates, other musicians reportedly at the funeral included Zakk Wylde, Ozzy's long-time guitarist, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, James Hetfield of Metallica, and Rob Zombie. All those players make sense as they also partake in heavy metal.

Some surprising attendees, though, included Elton John and Yungblud. Marilyn Manson was also there.

Of course, Elton John and Ozzy Osbourne had been mates for some time. While they certainly didn't play anything close to the same kind of music, they were both English who made their rock bones in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They were kindred spirits, if different musicians.

Fans learned of the connection between Yungblud and Ozzy after the younger musician appeared at the Back to the Beginning farewell. Ozzy had taken Yungblud under his wing, and Yungblud was extremely appreciative and respectful.

Marilyn Manson being at the funeral is mostly surprising because of the relatively recent accusations against him. Maybe they aren't true. The Osbourne family clearly was not worried about how it might look for Manson to appear.

Other musicians, such as Metallica's Robert Trujillo, have also posted on social media that they were at Ozzy Osbourne's funeral. This likely means there will be more famous names to come from those who paid their respects.
