Paul McCartney's latest performance wasn't meant for most fans

And for good reason.

The wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce was hopefully a grand affair that led to a long and happy marriage. The couple will have been helped along by music royalty, too. One of those people was Paul McCartney.

McCartney, according to People, performed at the reception that followed the wedding and, while doing so, sang, "I Want to Hold Your Hand." He hadn't performed the tune live, that anyone knows of, since the Beatles played the track at New York City's Paramount Theatre in 1964.

That was the year that the Beatles first broke in the United States and changed music forever. They were already huge in the UK, of course, but their global superstardom would change how the music industry sold bands.

Paul McCartney clearly is a fan of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Besides McCartney, Stevie Nicks also reportedly played during the reception. As most Swifties know, Swift was recently seen at a New York Knicks playoff game wearing a shirt that read "Stevie Knicks." Clearly, the young icon is a fan of the older legend. That goes for Swift and Kelce liking McCartney too, of course.

If anyone else played, and they definitely might have, the public doesn't know it yet. To be sure, finding out everything that went on at the event of the century (maybe not the wedding of the century, though; that would be your own, one hopes) is a little creepy because the wedding was a celebration of two people most will never know. Celebrity has its weird parts.

Still, those who did attend, including McCartney and Nicks, only show how well-liked Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are. One can be judged, it is said, by the company they keep, and the couple keeps some artistically elite company.

Athletically elite, too, one assumes. After all, Kelce is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, and many of his teammates were reportedly guests at the ceremony, too. That is how it should be, obviously. But what no one should expect in the future is Paul McCartney doing "I Want to Hold Your Hand" at their wedding.
