Paul McCartney has a new album coming out, you may have heard about. The record is called The Boys of Dungeon Lane, and is expected to be a reflective view of Macca's childhood. He will have a little help from his friends on the album, and that includes Ringo Starr.
Starr was the drummer for the Beatles, of course. If this is news to you, then that is OK. You have a lot to learn about music, and that is not meant to be disparaging. What you will be hearing in the future is going to be epic.
According to Billboard, Starr will be part of a song called "Home to Us," and the track came together almost accidentally, it seems. Starr plays the drums and trades vocals with McCartney, but the drumming aspect wasn't known to Starr.
Former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr recorded new song for Macca's upcoming album
At least, not at first. He was supposed to just lay down some vocal tracks, and he was playing around on the drums a bit, and producer Andrew Watt and McCartney added that to the tune. The drummer was first upset at Watt, it appears, and then at McCartney, but after being informed what Starr's role was, all was right again in the world.
The first vocals Starr recorded for the song were only for the chorus, but after Macca let the drummer in on the entire concept of the tune, Starr returned to the studio and recorded more vocals.
He isn't the only icon involved in the song, either. Backing vocals also include Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders and Sharleen Spiteri of Texas. The track seems to almost have too much talent, and how it comes together will have to lie with Watt and McCartney. The positive part is that those two seem to understand what makes greatness.
Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney working together again isn't something new. They have performed on stage together recently and also helped Dolly Parton record "Let It Be" on her Rockstar album.
McCartney's new record will drop on May 29, and if the first single is any indication, the album is going to be low-key but wonderful. In other words, you might want to save some money by pre-ordering The Boys of Dungeon Lane and then enjoying it once it arrives.
