Phish fans should be feeling pretty good about the chances of their favorite band being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2025. The band currently leads fan voting by a large margin, and the last performer to lead the Rock Hall fan vote and not get inducted is the Dave Matthews Band in 2020. Dave and his mates were eventually enshrined in 2024, however.

The issue might be that voting for this year's potential inductees is far lower than in many previous years. Could this be because the musical artists are a bit more niche? Phish is excellent if you like them, but they don't sell that many records, so the size of their audience remains a question. Of course, they have their loyal following, and they should, but their scope is limited.

Every year since 2018, the fan vote winner has received at least 547,647 ballots. No artist is close to that number in 2025. What has suppressed the vote? Something has, and maybe it is just the artists' popularity.

Phish should prepare acceptance speeches for 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame enshrinement

That is not to say that none are worthy of enshrinement. Many are, but no name is as big as George Michael in 2023 or Bon Jovi in 2018. Billy Idol needs to get in, as does Bad Company. Those vote totals are a lot lower than in previous years for musical artists ranking second and third this late in the voting.

Fans can cast a ballot until April 21. All the votes will be combined to form one ballot, which will then be mixed with around a thousand other votes. Winning the fan poll is ceremonial and not always indicative of who is inducted. First place has the best chance, so Phish might begin preparing their acceptance speeches.

The 2025 inductees will be announced later in April.
