A few artists worth listening to this week (8/14/23)
Hey, hey. It’s Monday and just as the weeks prior to this one, several musicians have released a multitude of head-banging bops worth listening to.
That said, this article leans more toward the artist themselves as opposed to records they’ve recently put out.
Without further ado, let's skip the rest of the small talk and deep delve into a few artists worth listening to.
Petey
The Chicago native first rose to fame on the TikTok platform a few years back during the height of Covid-19. He recently released a song titled Did I Mention I’m Sorry and while the song pertains to the regrets of childish ways in what should be mature relationships, it’s hard to not listen to the instrumental by itself and not feel some form of joy.
The full song is best listened to when you need a bit of reassurance that you aren’t the only one who acted like a duche in a prior relationship. On a side note though, if you’re looking to unwind during the summertime on a beach resort, the instrumental by itself is a vibe.
Gloria Tells
In many ways, Gloria Tells is a flashback from the late 90/00s era of music. This isn’t to be taken as an insult. On the contrary, it’s a compliment.
If you’ve yet to hear her vocals, a good starting is most definitely Are We Still In Love. Like the previous entry, the question in the title gives a great indication of what the song is about.
They differ in a few ways, though. Perhaps the most notable being that Tells is conflicted between ending what used to be a good thing and moving on from a potentially dead relationship.
Becky Hill
Whether you’re yearning for a getaway from annoying siblings, you're having mom/dad issues, you’re facing drama from your significant other, or you flat-out hate your spitefully petty coworkers, this is the ideal track to dance the night away whilst your troubles fall to the waste side. Hey, it might be a temporary fix, but it’s ten times better than a more dangerous vice.
Becky Hill teamed up with Chase & Status for the original recording of Disconnect, but Tiësto’s remix is definitely worth just as much a listen as the first version. While the remix runs at a slower pace, it’s definitely not too slow to vibe to.
