Not only is the Barbie movie shaping up to be one of the most watched of the summer, the soundtrack is looking like it is going to be a massive hit of its own. Here's what we know.

The Barbie soundtrack will be released on the same day as the film, July 21st. While there still could be a surprise artist and song or two that makes an appearance, from what we know so far is that the soundtrack will contain at least 17 songs featuring some of the biggest musical acts on the planet.

The two most recent songs that we know about are Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For?" and Sam Smith's "Man I Am." The Eilish track will be released as a single on Friday, July 13th. The Smith tune will be released as a single the same day the movie comes out.

Other artists, and you'll really want to know this part, on the soundtrack include Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj with Ice Spice and Aqua, Charli XCX, Karol G, Tame Impala, Dominic Fike, Haim, The Kid Laroi, Khalid, PinkPantheress, Gayle, Ava Mac, and Fifty Fifty featuring Kaliii.

All you need to know about the Barbie movie soundtrack

The album was produced by Mark Ronson (if you don't know Ronson - and likely, you do - he has produced such artists as Amy Winehouse, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, and many more). Ronson was attached to the Barbie movie from the beginning and he and director Greta Gerwig created a wish-list of artists they wanted to provide tracks. The artists were sent clips of the film their songs would be in and the musical act took it from there.

Nikki Minaj's "Barbie World" features a sample of Aqua's 1997 hit "Barbie Girl." It appears at first there wasn't any intention of the song being involved in the movie but Barbie star Margot Robbie asked for it to be and so it was.

Ryan Gosling also has his own song on the soundtrack, "I'm Just Ken." The cool thing about this tune is that Slash from Guns 'N Roses plays the solo and rhythm guitar parts on the song. So, basically, while the Barbie soundtrack is mostly pop artists, the soundtrack might feature a little bit for everybody.
