The EGOT club has just gained another member. Music icon Elton John has become the 19th individual to hit a "grand slam" in the entertainment world having now won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.

John joined the elite crowd on Jan. 15, 2023, when he took home his first Emmy award for Farewell From Dodger Stadium, John's Disney+ special showcasing his final North American show as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tout which kicked off back in 2018 and concluded in July 2023 following a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elton John EGOT wins

Elton John secured his EGOT for Farewell From Dodger Stadium which landed him his first Emmy in 2024, but he's been working toward his EGOT for several decades now.

His first win was a Grammy which came back in 1987 when he took home the first of his five Grammys for "That's What Friends Are For." Nearly a decade later in 1994, John took home his first Oscar for Best Original Song for "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from The Lion King. Finally, in 2000, he won a Tony Award for his Aida score.

It took John 24 years to complete his EGOT journey with his Emmy win, with his EGOT achievement being the culmination of decades of work and one of the most successful careers in entertainment history.

John is the latest to join the EGOT club with the most recent EGOT coming in 2023 when Viola Davis became the 18th individual to achieve the milestone with her Grammy win.
