Here Comes the Mummies - "Pants"
There is possibly no better song ever created with the word-play of "Pants." But be forewarned, this track is not for the small kids. There is so much sexual innuendo that the group either took months to come up with the lyrics or 15 minutes. It's all a fun joke and that is how the track is intended to be. Not only are the words funny, but the music is extremely well done and makes you want to shake your booty no matter what you might be hearing the singer emote.
But "Pants" is also the perfect tune to introduce you to the group. The band produces excellent funk rock on stage but they are also that genre's version of Slipknot. The musicians never show their faces and get dressed in different kits and wear masks. One must assume they are profusely sweating under it all because they are in constant movement during their gigs.
Part of the promotional material for the band says, "Some say [the group was] cursed after deflowering a great Pharaoh's daughter. Others claim they are reincarnated Grammy-winning studio musicians. Regardless, HCTM's mysterious personas, cunning song-craft, and unrelenting live show will bend your brain, and melt your face." The truth is, a lot of that is true as the band is fantastic live and the musicianship is great.
"Pants" shows off every ounce of that as well. One can safely assume that it did take a while to conceive of the track because every second is filled with humor and joy. The song might be a laugh, but it was lovingly created.
