Jane's Addiction makes obvious move after recent concert blowup

After a meltdown in a recent concert, Jane's Addiction has decided to do the most obvious thing.

What a mess Perry Farrell has created. Last week at a Jane's Addiction concert in Boston, Farrell began shouting at guitarist Dave Navarro and bumping into him. Navarro appeared to try to keep Farrell at bay, but then Farrell punched him. This was near the end of the gig anyway, but the rest of the songs were canceled.

Based on recent posts from both Navarro and Farrell, the singer appears to be completely at fault for what occurred. Even worse, Navarro (and his bandmates who co-signed his social media post about the incident) said that the mental health issues that Farrell might be struggling with are not going to go away. He fears for the safety of all the band members.

In Farrell's social media post, the vocalist accepted blame for what happened and he apologized to his bandmates as well as family and fans. He said that his "breaking point" led to his "inexcusable behavior."

Jane's Addiction cancels rest of tour after blowup between Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro

So there's that, at least. Ultimately, Jane's Addiction fans are the ones who will lose out, however. The band was expected to keep touring into mid-October but those shows are now cancelled. Based on how the Boston concert ended, and the inconsistent history of the band, one might safely assume we will never see any edition of Jane's Addiction in concert again.

The group has always had Farrell as a part, but Navarro has also played during most iterations of the band. Even Navarro's Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmate, Flea, has been part of Jane's Addiction at times. If the group does decide to gig again, we might just see Farrell with a bunch of different musicians that he has not played with before.

On the band's official Instagram page, a post read, "To all the fans, the band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be cancelling (sic) the remainder of the tour."

One can hope that Farrell gets the help he needs, assuming he needs mental health assistance. One can also hope that Navarro and Farrell find some peace between them in due time. But what seems foolish is that fans will ever get to hope to watch Jane's Addiction live again.
