As summer winds down and the holiday shopping season has not picked up, August features a bit fewer high-exposure album releases. This does not mean that the records will be bad, however. Far from it.

In fact, August might be a gift for true music lovers. There is a surprise album release from an important rock band, while other established musical artists have albums being released every week. There is also the random Sabrina Carpenter record which might do well because of the influence of Taylor Swift.

Each week will likely include at least two records you will want to add to your collection. There are also no thin weeks with nearly every week seeing a double-digit number of releases. Here is a list of what's coming out in August so you'll know what to plan to buy.

Full album release schedule for August

August 2

Khalid - Sincere
Meshell Ndegeocello - No More Water: The Gospel Of James Baldwin
Michael And The Mighty Midnight Revival - Songs For Sinners & Saints
Orville Peck - Stampede
The Smashing Pumpkins - Aghori Mhori Mei
Jack White - No Name
Why? - The Well I Fell Into
X - Smoke & Fiction

The Smashing Pumpkins, currently on tour with Green Day, announced a surprise album this week. Hopefully, there will be a few more guitars and few less synths on this record. It is time for Billy Corgan to get back to his Siamese Dream days.

One might have the feeling that the Orville Peck album is going to blow up, though. His name has been mentioned too much recently in various circles for him to fall flat.

August 9

Big Sean - Better Me Than You
F****d Up - Another Day
J Balvin - Rayo
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard - Flight b741
Louis Cole - Nothing
Milton Nascimento & Esperanza Spalding - Milton + Esperanza
Niki - Buzz
Osees - SORCS 80
Oso Oso -Life Till Bones
Ryuichi Sakamoto - Opus

The new King Gizzard record will be the Australian band's 26th studio album. The band only formed in 2010 so their ability to produce so much music is impressive. The key is they never bore as they rarely repeat their sound. Flight b741 is rumored to be blues-rock instead of straight metal.

August 16

Beabadoobee - This Is How Tomorrow Moves
Blind Pilot - In The Shadow Of The Holy Mountain
Charly Bliss - FOREVER
Falling in Reverse - Popular Monster
Foster the People - Paradise State Of Mind
Hamish Hawk - A Firmer Hand
Matty - POPS
Morgan Wade - Obsessed
Pom Poko - Champion
Post Malone - F-1 Trillion
Ray LaMontagne - Long Way Home
Urban Heat - The Tower

This might be the most versatile week of releases for August so you'll need to save up a bit to get several records. Falling in Reverse can be hit-and-miss, but when it's right, the songs are very good. Ray LaMontagne's new album might be the best of the bunch and a great album for a rainy Sunday afternoon.

August 23

Bryce Dessner - Solos
Fontaines D.C. - Romance
Gillian Welch & David Rawlings - Woodland
Illuminati Hotties - POWER
Jeff Schroeder - Metanoia[
Lainey Wilson - Whirlwind
Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk
Orlando Weeks - LOJA
Sabrina Carpenter - Short n’ Sweet
Sofi Tukker - BREAD
Spirit of the Beehive - YOU'LL HAVE TO LOSE SOMETHING
Susanna - Meditations On Love
The Softies - The Bed I Made
Thomas Rhett - About A Woman
Uniform - American Standard

Record company execs must have gotten together and decided this week should be the one in which to release one-word titled records - there are eight this week - as well as one-word titles all in capital letters. Still, the week might be stolen by the band with an extremely great name: Illuminati Hotties.

August 30

Enumclaw - Home In Another Life
Galliano - Halfway Somewhere
Jon Hopkins - RITUAL

Laurie Anderson - Amelia
Los Bitchos - Talkie Talkie
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Wild God
RZA - A Ballet Through Mud
Tycho - Infinite Health
Why Bonnie - Wish On The Bone
Zedd - TELOS

OK, so Nick Cave and RZA are releasing albums in the same week. That's really all that needs to be said.
