According to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Taylor Swift is everything you would want from the most famous person in the world. At least, that is what the Chiefs star said in a recent interview with NBC football commentator Chris Simms recently. Even better, while Swift might be new to football, she's catching on extremely quickly.
So much so that Swift appears to have been drawing up plays for fun. Mahomes told Simms that the plays were so good that the Chiefs "might have to put one in." Of course, this might have only been for fun in one of Kansas City's preseason games, but the Chiefs still would have been the only team to have a play created by Taylor Swift.
Swift, of course, has been dating Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce since last year and the performer has been seen at a number of Chiefs games. She actively roots for the team and has all the energy of teenagers pulling for their high school team (in a good way). Swift's appreciation of the sport seems genuine, even though she has to watch since Kelce plays. (Otherwise, that would just be rude.)
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes effusive in his praise of Taylor Swift
Mahomes was effusive in his praise of Swift, though, well beyond her drawing up imaginary plays that would never be run. The quarterback said of Swift, "...meeting Taylor, realizing how genuine and cool she is. I think that’s been special to me because she’s...the most famous person in the world, she could not be (genuine)."
The quarterback also thought Swift's impact on how women and young girls view football is helpful as well. The singer is obviously emulated by her adoring fans, and she mostly has a positive effect. Her being at Chiefs games has likely made female viewership increase quite a bit. Mahomes has daughters and he has seen the impact that Swift's liking football has had on them in a very personal way.
Instead of being gender prohibitive, Mahomes says he gets to spend a bit of dad time with his daughters while they all watch football. Of course, that doesn't have to be the way with every father, of course, but watching games in preparation for an opponent is part of Mahomes' job.
The quarterback told Simms, "I think it’s been cool to see the girls and the women that have really embraced watching football. I know being a girl dad, how cool it is for me to see these little girls – these daughters – and how much they’re loving to spend time with their dad, watching football."
