Most adults are likely not to take to social media to post that they "hate" another adult. Maybe a seven-year-old might do that - likely not an eight-year-old because that extra year brings with it some maturity - but an adult? Surely not.
We might in our quiet conversations with friends and friendly co-workers tell the other person that we "hate" someone else, though using that word seems too strong. It's a harsh word but one too easy to use. Instead of fleshing out how we might feel, we go to the bottom-line word which tells someone nothing about the person being hated, but only that the person feeling the emotion is capable of rage.
The above is pointed out because we should expect better from those people running for the office of President of the United States. This is also not meant as an endorsement of one candidate over another, but just an observation of one candidate's behavior. Donald Trump took to social media to say, literally, "I hate Taylor Swift!"
Donald Trump gives an opinion of Taylor Swift that will surely upset Swifties
In other words, someone has taken the last of the chicken nuggets at lunch while Trump is in the second grade and he is mad about it. Swift endorsed Kamala Harris last week and Trump doesn't like it.
The problem is that both candidates have a lot of sway over the people that vote for them and one candidate saying they "hate" someone is going to cause other people to hate Swift or worse. (Let's also be real. Imagining Harris or literally any other recent candidate for president saying they "hate" someone on social media is ridiculous; it wouldn't happen.)
Trump clearly feels insulted by a musical artist saying they prefer someone over him. There are musical artists who choose Trump over Harris. Ted Nugent is one of them.
Instead of a candidate taking to social media to say how much they dislike someone, maybe the focus needs to be less on their personal feelings and the focus on how to make the nation better. Maybe Trump can do that. Maybe Harris can. Taylor Swift is just giving her opinion on who she thinks will.
