No. 8- Brave New World (2003)

Released in 2000, Brave New World was the first album to feature Bruce Dickinson since he left the band in 1993. His presence was felt throughout the album as Iron Maiden delivered their best album since 1988’s Somewhere in Time. Brave New World features live staples including “Blood Brothers”, and “The Wicker Man” while also including the opuses “Dream of Mirrors” and “The Thin Line of Love and Hate”.

While the Blaze Bayley albums of the 1990s were not bad by any means, Brave New World was a true return to form and helped usher the band into the 21st century with a bang.

No. 7- Killers (1981)

The second and final album of the Paul D’ianno era, Killers follows a similar approach to the band’s debut self-titled album and it paid dividends. The album is raw and energetic but top-heavy at the same time as the best songs are featured on side one of the record.

These standout tracks include “The Ides of March” and “Wrathchild” which blend together to kick off the album, and the title track which features a thundering bassline and takes you on a journey to create a dark and sinister feel through the mind of a killer. While not as consistent as its predecessor, Killers contains a lot of solid work and was a great send-off as the band entered into a new era.

No. 6- Somewhere in Time (1986)

Synthesizers were on full display on Somewhere In Time as Iron Maiden looked to change their approach and add a little flair to their music. It worked as Somewhere In Time is a consistent record that is worthy of recognition and acknowledgment. The album features the classic hit “Wasted Years” and essential deep cuts including “Deja Vu”, and “Alexander the Great”, the latter of which was recently performed live for the first time, much to the delight of fans worldwide.

It is one of the most expensive albums the band has ever made and it was well worth the money as it features tight production and excellent quality songs that are once again getting the recognition they deserve as the band embarks on their “Future Past” Tour through 2024.
