No. 2- The Number of the Beast (1982)

Iron Maiden established themselves as one of the heavy hitters of the metal genre when they unleashed The Number of the Beast in March 1982. The album features the addition of Bruce Dickinson, formerly of Samson, and it was a welcomed one as Dickinson helped Iron Maiden reach new heights, the likes of which they have never reached before.

The album features the timeless classics “Run To The Hills”, “Hallowed Be Thy Name” and the legendary title track, all of which are among their most recognizable and popular songs.

No. 1- Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (1988)

The band’s only concept album to date, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son builds on the progressive metal style of its predecessor Somewhere in Time, using keyboards and synthesizers to create a more full, heavy sound. The result is a masterpiece full of classic rock anthems that have stood the test of time over the past 35-plus years.

The album starts out with a bang with Moonchild and never looks back with 44 minutes of pure metal greatness. Highlights of the album include the aforementioned Moonchild along with “The Clairvoyant”, “The Evil That Men Do” and the epic title track that is filled with tempo changes and cutting edge riffs. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son was Iron Maiden at their best and was the perfect blend of the heavy and progressive metal genres.
