Two iconic rock bands announce a limited run of shows happening this autumn
By Lee Vowell
Summer might be over in a couple of months in the Northern Hemisphere, but the new concert tours won't stop. Global warming stinks, but at least it stays warm enough for bands to hit the road to entertain us, right? Here we are now...you know the rest.
In the past week, music fans have learned about several new metal and hard rock tours set for this fall. Some of the bands might be lesser known, but that works well, too. Seeing a band as they are just starting out means sometimes finding them at their fiercest.
Among those groups set for a run of gigs are JVK and Hulder. The latter will be performing on the West Coast between September 17 and 28. If you like loud metal with a vocalist who sounds like an angry banshee, this run of shows is for you. Boston-based JVK will tour from August 30 through November 16.

Two tours you might definitely not want to miss, however, include King Diamond and Stryper. If you love Ghost then you likely know King Diamond's music. The performer was one of the biggest influences on Tobias Forge. That is a good thing because King Diamond produces good studio albums but his live performances are even better.
The tour will run from October 12 (beginning with the Mexico Metal Fest in Monterrey) to December 6. A huge positive is that King Diamond will traverse North America so that no matter where you live, there will probably be a concert stop within driving distance for you. If you can't drive, ask someone to take you. Suggest you buy them a pop at the show.
If you like your metal mixed with a heavy dose of Christianity then you have probably been a Stryper fan forever. The group's first record was released in 1984. Somehow, the band survived what could have been a limited audience by creating some excellent glam metal.
The band will begin their autumn dates on September 11 in Greeneville, TN (seems like a random place to start a tour, but who's to judge?) and end on November 16 in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Stryper might not be King Diamond, but if they are performing in some random place near where you randomly live, they are worth checking out.
