Van Halen will deliver a previously unreleased single in November called "Glitter." However, the song has likely been heard before by longtime fans of the band. Plus, one cannot simply buy the song by itself, but will have to shell out as much as $525 to get it.
The song has been available to fans as a bootleg before, but also part of vocalist David Lee Roth's website in 1998. Still, the track hasn't been officially released.
To get the tune, though, one will have to buy Van Halen, an anthology written by Alex Van Halen that is only coming out as a limited release. 1,500 copies in total, and the deluxe part of the anthology (350 copies strong) is already sold out. The remaining 1,150 copies are part of the collector set and cost $525. Genesis Publications is the company producing the work.

The anthology is 312 pages of rare and previously unseen photos of the band (including photos from Van Halen's 1978 tour of Japan and 1983 and 1984 performances at the Monsters of Rock festival), album artwork, and "musical equipment." Alex Van Halen has signed all the copies of the book.

The package includes a 7" picture disc that includes "Glitter," as well as interviews with the drummer during his creation of the book. In other words, you are going to really have affection for Alex Van Halen and a bit over $500 to see the photos and hear the previously "unreleased" song that has been heard before by most fans who have closely followed the legendary band's career.
"Glitter" was recorded in 1974 at the home of David Lee Roth's father, Dr. Nathan Roth, and was then part of the tapes that were given to those who booked groups into Los Angeles clubs in the mid-1970s. The recording features the group's original bassist, Mark Stone. This was, of course, before Michael Anthony joined the band (or Sammy Hagar, for that matter).
If you are not deterred by the price of the anthology, or just cannot wait for "Glitter" to eventually land on streaming, you can visit the website for Genesis Publications and pre-order your copy. You might want to do that quickly, however, as a quarter of the entire release is already gone.
