The Primavera Sound festival has been around for a quarter of a century and definitely doesn't get enough attention. Every time the event occurs, fans of all kinds of music get a load of elite talent to watch. Unlike some festivals, rock isn't left out, but is intertwined with all the rest of the great acts.
In 2027, the festival will be held at Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona, Spain, from June 3 through 5, and Fan Sale registration is currently underway through October 7. On October 8, those registered will get an email with instructions on how to purchase tickets for the Fan Sale, which begins at 11 am CEST on the 8th.
A general ticket sale will occur on October 9. The festival is likely to sell out, so anyone interested in going should register first in order to possibly purchase tickets a day before the general sale.
Rock fans will not want to miss the 2027 edition of Primavera Sound
Besides artists like Massive Attack, the Chemical Brothers, and Phoebe Bridgers, lovers of rock music will be entertained by Fontaines D.C., Pavement, King Gizzard and Lizard Wizard, and Turnstile, among others.
Turnstile recently delivered a brilliant performance on Saturday Night Live, the first hardcore act to appear on the sketch series in decades. They were so good, in fact, that the music decision-makers at SNL should obviously consider inviting other hardcore acts on.
King Gizzard has been one of the best live acts working for the last decade. Many of their albums differ from the previous release's sound, but that only augments the brilliance of the group. They manage to transpose all of their influences into epic concerts.
Fontaines D.C. has more of a consistently punk or post-punk sound, but they offer enough nuance that one checking them out for the first time in Spain will probably leave the concert looking for a nearby record store in order to purchase some of the Irish group's music.
Primavera Sound might also have a surprise act or two. Olivia Rodrigo was a pop-up artist in 2026 and was fantastic, elevating the entire festival. Of course, Rodrigo probably isn't going to do another surprise set in 2027 because once it's done, it's not really a surprise anymore. Maybe a rock giant like Metallica or the Dropkick Murphys will appear. One can hope.
