Radiohead fans are going to love 2026 for reasons only they will know

One and then the next.

Radiohead fans likely already knew that their favorite band is going back on the road in 2027. No new album appears to be forthcoming from the band, but as Radiohead fans likely already know, but the rest of the world might not, is that several albums from individual members of the band are coming out soon.

Vocalist Thom Yorke will release the fourth solo album of his career later in 2026, according to what guitarist Ed O'Brien told Kyle Meredith on the Consequence podcast, but no album name was given, and O'Brien did qualify the news with "I think." In other words, Yorke's album might be more hope than actuality.

It isn't as if Yorke has been sitting around doing nothing, of course. He's produced with the Smile, which also includes Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, and worked on soundtracks. He stays a busy person, and that is great for all music lovers.

Radiohead's various talents will have several solo projects happening in 2026

But so do his bandmates. O'Brien will also have his own solo album, Blue Morpho, released in May. Greenwood has a solo work, Ranjha, coming out in May, too, on the 22nd.

The positive being, as all fans of the band know, Radiohead has always been a collective of fantastic musicians who are extremely creative and never boring. They push the boundaries of what rock music should be, and have delivered some of the best albums of the past 30 years.

This means that when the members make solo albums, they also tend to be quite good. Yorke's Anima from 2019 and The Eraser from 2006 might not rival Radiohead's best, but they come pretty darn close, and that is impressive enough.

Greenwood goes beyond just solo albums, of course. His score for One Battle After Another was recently nominated for an Oscar. While he didn't win, his musical versatility only further proves Radiohead's overall greatness. No member of the band is without high-end talent.

Which will, of course, make their 2027 tour a fantastic one, but will also make fans hopeful for a new album from the band soon. Will it be different? Sure, as everything the group does is different, but that is part of their magic.

Radiohead will never make another "Creep" or "Fake Plastic Trees" because they don't need to repeat themselves, even as excellent as those tracks are. They have far too much ability to keep doing what they have done before, thank goodness.
