Fall is a great time to catch a concert. Maybe there are fewer festivals, but even in this time of global warming, the temps will be cooler, and going to a show is more comfortable. The amount of quality concert opportunities is endless, however.
You might need to travel a little bit to see some of the tours below. If you live near Knoxville, TN, for instance, many excellent bands tend to skip you. They seemingly would rather play in Asheville, NC, or Nashville. You might need to go to those two excellent cities or to Atlanta instead.
Tickets are bound to be expensive, of course, but all four of these tours will be worth your money. The final tour on this list, however, is relatively cheap. You might have no excuses for missing it.
Four fall tours you will not want to miss
The Cult/Death Cult
- Support act: Patriarchy
The Cult have been making records for 40 years, but vocalist Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy were called Death Cult for a short time before renaming themselves. Death Cult released an EP, and those songs, as well as tracks from the Cult's catalog, will be played on this tour.

Robert Plant
There are no known supporting acts for Plant, and maybe there won't be. Plant recently formed the laid-back acoustic band called Saving Grace, and the group has a new self-titled album coming out on September 26. We can assume many of the songs played on the tour will stem from that record.
