Ringo Starr hasn't stopped making music. The former Beatles drummer and long-time high-end entertainer has carved out a niche for himself by being himself. He knows how to put on a show and is worthy of a ticket in order to see him.
He is also a smart businessman. He knows his place in the Beatles' lore. Paul McCartney and John Lennon were the main draws, while he and George Harrison were more like the supporting cast. It says something about the band from Liverpool that it had so much talent that Starr and Harrison could be stars on their own.
But one doesn't go to watch Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band because of their latest hits. One goes because the evening is a guaranteed great time. Plus, the band itself matters, too.
Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band announce 2026 tour dates
While Starr does make solo studio albums still (and good ones), he doesn't make records with his All Starr Band. Instead, he relies on them for concerts only, and the 16 editions of Starr and the rest of the band have produced eight live albums. They are great.
Starr also gets little help from some very talented friends in the band's makeup. Former musicians who have played along with Starr include Levon Helm, Richard Marx, Billy Preston, Joe Walsh, Shelia E., and Dr. John, among many others.
The current lineup consists of Men At Work's Colin Hay, Warren Ham of Kansas and Toto, Steve Lukather of Toto, Hamish Stuart of the Average White Band, Gregg Bissonette, and Buck Johnson. Again, the band alone is worth seeing.
