Shakira and Jason Aldean concerts canceled hours before showtime (here's why)

In case you were going...

If you were planning on going to see Shakira at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, on May 29, you were forced not to go. The same for Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn on May 30. You are free to make other plans.

The potentially scary part is the why. Was there something wrong with the 112-year-old stadium? If that were the case, then Red Sox fans might be in jeopardy of something happening when they are watching their favorite team play a home game.

The good part is that the stadium seems fine, or at least we are told. Just hours before Shakira was set to shake her hips on a Fenway Park stage, the concert was called off. According to Rolling Stone, the reason for the cancellation for both the Colombian music star and the country music performers was the same: there was an issue with the stage structure.

Here's why the Shakira and Jason Aldean/Brooks & Dunn concerts were canceled at Fenway Park

The good news is that the performers did not have a chance to go on stage and have something tragic happen. The bad news is that if you planned on going to Boston for an upcoming show at the baseball stadium, you might be out of luck.

The next scheduled musical artist at the venue is Hozier, who has two nights scheduled (makes sense, right? He's an Irish artist, and there are a lot of Irish descendants who live in the Boston area). There is no word yet on whether that show will be played.

Shakira, Brooks & Dunn, and Jason Aldean were all part of the Fenway Concert Series, which was supposed to start with Shakira's gig and run through September. After Hozier, the Lumineers, Thomas Rhett, the Jonas Brothers, Chris Brown, and My Chemical Romance are all set to perform.

At least there is nearly a month before Hozier is scheduled to play, so hopefully whatever the issue is can be fixed. Tickets for Shakira, plus the Brooks & Dunn and Jason Aldean show, were fully refundable. You just have to miss out on a great experience.
