Ozzy Osbourne was an icon amongst icons, and millions will miss him. The good part, of course, is that we will always have his music to remind us how great he was. That enjoyment never has to end. But in the future, there is going to be much more than just the albums and singles.

A memoir was rumored to be released in the future, even before Ozzy's death on July 22. In the days after his and Black Sabbath's farewell concert on July 5, news of the reported memoir broke. What we didn't know then was how close Ozzy was to the end. The memoir was complete.

For years, a film project about Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne had been bandied about. Part of the issue was that Ryan Jaffe tried to get a biopic of the Osbournes produced in 1998, but no legal agreement was made, and the project did not move forward. Without the approved use of Ozzy Osbourne's or Black Sabbath's music, the movie would have been pointless.

Sony is moving forward with an Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne biopic

Jaffe even wrote a script that was passed around by managers and producers, but Ozzy and Sharon had never given their blessing for the script, so again, music rights would have been difficult to come by.

According to Variety, though, Sony is still planning on moving forward with an Ozzy and Sharon biopic. Lee Hall, who wrote the script for Rocketman, was originally tabbed to write the film about the Osbournes and is still somehow attached. It isn't clear if Hall is writing the script.

The real hope that the project gets done is that, according to what a representative from Polygram Entertainment told Variety, Polygram will team up with Osbourne Media, the family's media label that Sharon leads, to create the film. This should mean that Ozzy's music will be used as well.

The film will focus on Ozzy and Sharon's relationship, one that began in 1979 after Ozzy was dismissed from Black Sabbath. Casting for the project does not appear to have started, however, and there is no reported director attached.
