If you are a longtime Taylor Swift fan, then you know she hasn't always delivered pop gems. She began as a country music artist with a pop singer's great soul. If you liked her original sound, you'll likely love the news that she will have a track featured on the Toy Story 5 soundtrack.

Even better, fans won't have to wait long to hear the tune. "I Knew It, I knew You" will drop on June 5. The song was written for the character of Jessie, a cowgirl voiced by Joan Cusack. Having her sing a pop song wouldn't be fitting, but a country one? Definitely.

The icon wrote and co-produced the track with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, which should end any speculation that the two had a rift after he wasn't part of Swift's latest album, The Life of a Showgirl. That record was produced by previous collaborators, Max Martin and Shellback.

Taylor Swift will go country again on a track for Toy Story 5

The song will also be made available on three different CDs. One will be the full song that is likely to be heard in the film, another will be Swift and piano, and the other will be acoustic. The track will also be available for streaming, of course.

Toy Story 5 will be released in theaters on June 19, and while some had speculated that Taylor Swift would voice one of the characters, at least having her song be a part should make Swifties rejoice. The next question, though, is how good the song will be?

Will it be full-on country due to the character that's attached to it? If so, Swift left that genre many years ago, so will the track seem more like an homage to country or a poor attempt to recreate her original sound?

What is likely is that the track will be extremely well-produced, vetted by the legendary singer and Antonoff, and be fine. Maybe even more than that. By the time the Academy Awards come around early in 2027 (once again hosted by the great Conan O'Brien), Taylor Swift could be nominated for an award she has never won before: An Oscar.
