Taylor Swift has a new album coming out. Unless you live in a cave (and good for you if you do), you probably already know that. Even if you aren't already a Swiftie, you might be Swift-curious. Everyone is to some degree, whether they admit it or not.
The new record is called The Life of a Showgirl and will have 12 tracks. Bonus editions might have vault tracks, and some rumors have those extra tracks being from her Reputation album. Her new record and Reputation have the same producers, Max Martin and Shellback.
Fans still have to wait and see if that rumor is true, of course. Some things are confirmed.
What you need to know about Taylor Swift's new album, The Life of a Showgirl
That is that The Life of a Showgirl will have 12 songs, and will be released for streaming on every platform that you can imagine. In other words, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, among others, will carry the record.
The album will be available at the same time for each, too, but that time might depend on where you live. This means if you live in Eastern time in the United States, you will need to stay up until 12 am ET to hear the record, but you will listen at the same time as someone who lives in London, though the album drops at 5 am BST.
If you want a copy of the CD or vinyl, some Target stores will have a midnight party event where you can hear the record, but also buy some Target exclusives. This includes Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer vinyls and three exclusive CD versions with unique posters and lyric booklets.
Other chain stores will not have these, so if you have never shopped at Target before, here is your reason to go. One wonders how long the lines might be, however.
As Taylor Swift fans know, their hero's favorite number is 13. But The Life of a Showgirl has a lot of 12s built in. The album is Swift's 12th studio release, and the tracklisting is 12 songs long. One of these (the title track for the album) will be a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter.
Swift will also have a version of "Father Figure" where the icon will interpolate George Michael's 1987 hit into her own rendition. Something like "Father Figure (Taylor's Version)." Here is the entire tracklist:
- The Fate of Ophelia
- Elizabeth Taylor
- Opalite
- Father Figure
- Eldest Daughter
- Ruin the Friendship
- Actually Romantic
- Wi$h Li$t
- Wood
- Cancelled!
- Honey
- The Life of a Showgirl
