There is some ridiculously exciting news for Paul McCartney fans

It's time to get back.

Paul McCartney has already left an unparalleled mark on modern music. Part of the legendary Beatles from 1960 to 1970, they changed the landscape of music forever, with classic albums like Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band, and the affectionately-titled eponymous White Album.

With their break up, the Beatles only multiplied, becoming four musical powerhouses, instead of just one. (This is nothing to say of the countless bands that formed as a result of their influence.) And you could say that McCartney led the charge.

In 1970, the same year as the Beatles’ break up, Paul released his first solo album, McCartney, which became a number-one release in the United States. That was followed almost immediately by perhaps his most revered solo album to date, Ram, which he collaborated on with his then-wife, Linda. Then it was onto the popular side project, Wings, with a lucky number of seven albums in the 1970s, to critical acclaim, including hit songs like “Band On The Run” and “Maybe I’m Amazed.”

Paul McCartney says 2025 will see a new album coming from his direction

He released seven albums also in the 1980s, back under his given name, and then three albums each following decade.  Well, five years after his first release of the 2020s, McCartney III, along with the star-studded McCartney III Imagined, a sort of remix album that found him working with artists that he reveres and has greatly influenced, such as Beck and St. Vincent, he has shared that in the year 2025, he plans on coming out with his second release of the decade.

There’s not a lot more word about what it’s gonna look like: if it’s going to be a jazzy-influenced crooning album like 2012’s Kisses On The Bottom or a catchy alternative singer-songwriter album, like his 2013 New, with modern-day classics, like “Queenie Eye” and “Early Days,” perhaps my favorite McCartney album of all.

But for the McCartney fans, this is certainly good news. He said that he’s taking a break from touring after his wildly successful three-year Got Back Tour, which found him traveling throughout the world to share songs, new and old, to record a new album. And so we’re all waiting with bated breath to see what the song maestro will deliver. Whatever kind of a year 2025 will turn out to be: we at least have that to look forward to.
