In a world of remakes and reimaginings, it's rare to find an artist who dares to reach outside that comfortable stasis and into a new realm. For Jeremy Jordan, though, it's just another day in the office... or rather, on the stage.
Jordan has been a regular on hit television shows like "Hazbin Hotel," "Supergirl," and "Smash", and began his Broadway career in 2009. His latest Broadway performance in the titular role of Floyd Collins earned another Tony nomination this year and was nominated for a Grammy with the cast recording of "Newsies."
Making the jump to and from Broadway and television is not unheard of, but, typically, most actors aren't able to say they started a rock band, too.
Broadway star Jeremy Jordan's band is one you need to hear
Jeremy Jordan has been dabbling in writing and creating his own music for at least the last twenty years, though he had not done anything serious with it until it became his only outlet during the pandemic.
Age of Madness was officially formed in 2020, and their first single was released in early 2022. They've been pretty steadily cranking out tunes since then, but you probably have not heard any of it, which is honestly a shame.
Now, Jordan has set aside the time to embark on a tour with Age of Madness, and we are right in the middle of it. Their sound combines a fresh feeling with a more nostalgic one, and while there are comparable bands, there is no one quite like them.
Their sound blends velvet, rich vocals with sharp violins and impressive guitar riffs that will carry you to another world entirely. You can hear notes of inspiration (whether intentional or not) from emo bands like the guitars of My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade and the smooth melodic vocals of Panic! At The Disco that seamlessly blend that bluesy, rich voice into a new rock sound.
And now, Age of Madness is reaching for the sky with their new theme revolving around Mount Olympus and the Greek Pantheon.
Age of Madness views their journey as “telling stories that are a testimony to where we came from and where we stand in today’s world,” Jeremy Jordan, lead singer and Tony-nominated Broadway star, explains on his website.
The band, a lifetime in the making, was created by Jordan and his lifelong friend and renowned guitarist, Mikael. Sarah Charness joins them on the electric (and hot pink) violin to form the trio.
Charness’ haunting violin adds to the ambiance that Jordan’s ultra-smooth vocals create, while Mikael’s insane guitar riffs draw you in with a full, rich sound that will keep you coming back for more, every time.
As part of their Mt. Olympus collection, Age of Madness covered The White Stripes' mega hit "Seven Nation Army" and attributed it to Ares, the god of war. Their latest single, “Dionysus | Animal,” dropped on June 13 and has already become a crowd favorite at concerts.
On their current Mount Olympus tour, they are teasing fans with songs named after female goddesses. One was played at a concert in Richmond, Virginia, on July 26, 2025, and is called “Hera." Jordan stated he was particularly excited to release a studio version of “soon.”
According to their Instagram, they intend to drop a new track each month until all of the Mt. Olympus album is released. As we are over halfway through August, now, I cannot wait to hear what comes next.
