Trent Reznor just dropped the news Nine Inch Nails fans have heard too often

Wouldn't be the first time.

Nine Inch Nails fans have heard this before. The band wouldn't tour again, and eventually did, multiple times over. Hopefully, that is the case again, even though Trent Reznor implied in a recent performance in Tulsa, Oklahoma, that the band might be done playing live.

Reznor was recalling a previous time doing a show in the city when he offered a bit of sadness to fans. During the previous performance, Reznor noticed someone near the back of the crowd singing along with him. The moment was a reminder of how much of a connection an artist and a fan can have. That makes all the hard work of creating music worth it.

But if Reznor stays true to his word this time, those kinds of moments will be coming to an end. He was happy where his band and their stage shows were, but how much longer the latter continued, he didn't know.

Could Nine Inch Nails be touring for the last time?

Reznor told the crowd, "I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now. And I’m fucking grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight."

But don't fret yet, NIN fan. The band had previously said that their 2009 tour was going to be their last, but the group returned in 2013. At the end of 2014, Nine Inch Nails said again they were probably done touring, but they clearly haven't fully stopped. Maybe their current Peel It Back tour won't be their final run of shows, either.

Even if Reznor and long-time bandmate Atticus Ross stop touring, that doesn't mean they won't make any more records. NIN just released a companion album to 2025's soundtrack to Tron: Ares. The new work, while having some new music, is mostly remixes of what was on the original soundtrack album.

In other words, fans haven't truly gotten an original album from Nine Inch Nails since 2020's free download, Ghosts VI: Locusts. Was the music for Tron new? Sure, but the songs were based on something else, not something organic. Hopefully, that will change soon.

As far as NIN's concerts, they are as good as ever. Fans uniquely interact with Reznor, and it is a full experience. If you missed them on the recent tour, hopefully that won't be your last chance. The next tour could be, though, and going to a Nine Inch Nails concert will be completely worth your money.
