2027 could be a big year for U2. They will be releasing their 16th studio album, Carnaval de Luz, on November 13, 2026, and then will do a tour called The Greatest Show on Earth next year in support of the album. South American dates were previously announced, but the band has now dropped UK and European dates.

The tickets will begin as a subscriber presale on the band's official website on Monday, November 2, at 10 am BST, and then tickets will be made available on Friday, November 6, at 10 am local time.

Further dates, that include Ireland, Spain, and North America, will be announced soon, though the final details are still being worked out. Those shows might be announced within the next couple of weeks.

Among the many positives is that drummer Larry Mullen Jr. should be available for the full tour. He had taken some time away from live performances due to neck and back issues, which required surgery. The foursome of Mullen, Bono, The Edge, and Adam Clayton have been together since the band formed in 1976. Missing even one of them live seems odd.

U2 has released two EPs in 2026, and both were quite good. What has been released from Carnaval de Luz has also been excellent, implying the entire record will be worthy of multiple listens.

While the group has never churned out a truly bad album, their latest records haven't lived up to the high-level heights of the band's 1980s and 1990s albums. Maybe that would be impossible, but the teasers from the new record imply that at least the new album will be U2's best in a couple of decades.

If nothing else, U2 is a must-see live. Even if they hadn't released music since 2000, that would be the case. If you can afford to go, you should see the Irish band in 2027.
