The Afghan Whigs are working their way back to greatness. Fans have been promised a new album, the band's first since 2022's somewhat underwhelming How Do You Burn? So far, the group has released two singles from the record.
The first single was "House of I," which harkens back to the days when the band was more raw and post-punky. While the gritty track stands well on its own, the video is a must-watch. The band doesn't try to overdo it, but just produces a fantastic rock track.
The second single, "Duvateen," is much more laid-back, with the two songs giving fans the full experience of what the Cincinnati band is capable of. Both tracks are great and have the desired effect of making one wonder what the entire album will sound like.
Afghan Whigs release new song ahead of new album and with a tour underway
No release date for the record has been announced yet, only that fans should expect the album this summer.
If you don't want to wait that long to listen to some of the newer tunes, there is a good chance you will hear some of the tracks on the band's current tour with Mercury Rev. The run of shows began last week and will continue through late May. With the summer release of the new album, one should likely expect more dates to be added in support of the record.
