Here's the news: Sabrina Carpenter is dropping a new single this Thursday, June 5, called "Manchild." Will it be the song of summer? Possibly. Her pop sound is bouncy and fun, just as she wants you to believe she is.
To tease the release of her new tune, she put out an NSFW video on her Instagram page of her standing on the roadside, hitchhiking, as a truck and then a car drive right past her. The video is silent until the very end when Carpenter (we assume it's Carpenter) is heard to say, "Oh boy."
In the video, Carpenter is wearing a tied white shirt, high heels, and some of the smallest daisy dukes you have ever seen. Once Carpenter turns and faces the road, she isn't hiding much. Should children view the video? That is up to you, but just be warned.
Sabrina Carpenter bares some skin in order to tease her new single
Some questions should be asked. First, the video appears to be 1970s-related. Why? Is the new song going to have an AOR feel?
Secondly, how did Carpenter wind up on the side of the road in those heels? They certainly would not be comfortable walking in. At least, not very far. She is also clean, and she appears to be standing in something like the Arizona desert, so how is she not dirty?
Finally, why is no one stopping to pick her up? She doesn't look threatening. There certainly is no place on her to hide a weapon, or it would be obvious she has it. Maybe it's in the suitcase to her left. The whole situation seems odd.
Even stranger is the B-side release of "Manchild," which will be available as a 7-inch clear vinyl. The track is called "inside of your head when you've just won an argument with a man." What are the lyrics to that going to be? Will there simply be random voices, or will music be part of it?
The new single also has a very specific time of release. On June 5, the song will drop at 8 pm ET. We have to wonder if there is going to be a video that goes along with it.
