If you love New Wave pop, and you know you should, and you have enough money to pay for exceedingly high gas prices to take a flight or drive, then going to the UK in December might be just the opportunity for you. That's because you will get to see Boy George and Culture Club in concert.
Even better, you'll get to see those 1980s icons with some other elite British groups of the era. The band has invited ABC and Haircut 100 along on a nine-city trek that begins on December 7 in Bournemouth, the home of the EPL squad that recently ruined Pep Guardiola's last season with Manchester City, and finishes at the O2 in London on December 19.
You can make it like it's an early Christmas present to yourself and whoever you want to bring along. What could be better? Plus, the run of shows is being called "The Singles" tour, which means all you will be getting are the hits.
Boy George and Culture Club should supply the entertainment for your destination vacation in December
Tickets for the shows will go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 29, at 9:30 am BST. That means if you are flying over from New York City, for instance, you'll want to wake up at 4:30 am ET in order to purchase tickets. For more information, you can visit Culture Club's official website.
Culture Club does have a few dates in North America in September. The band will be in Puyallup, Washington, on September 4, Costa Mesa, California, on September 6, and Vancouver, British Columbia, on September 7.
What Boy George won't have with him on those dates is ABC or Haircut 100, however. Those bands, along with Culture Club, make a trip to the UK worthwhile, if you can afford it.
Culture Club has had one top-10 album and six top-10 singles in the United States, and four and nine, respectively, in the UK. Their most recent album was Life, which was released in 2018.
ABC has released nine studio albums, with their most recent, The Lexicon of Love II, released in 2016. The original Lexicon of Love dropped in 1982 as the band's debut record, and the album remains one of the more underrated from the New Wave era.
Haircut 100 released only two studio albums, the last in 1984. They managed to have four top 10 singles in the UK between 1981 and 1982.
