The countdown to the Grammy Awards is always exciting. So many big names either performing or nominated or in some cases, both apply. For 2025 there is an extra special element name in among the nominations and an important theme for the ceremony.
The 67th Grammy Awards ceremony takes place on Sunday, February 2 in Los Angeles. It’s always a huge event, but possibly even more so this year given the devastation in the area from the wildfires. The telecast of the event will be raising funds to support relief efforts and also artists and music professionals who have been impacted. It’s looking like a highly emotional evening ahead.
Those emotions will also be on edge when it comes to one of the big names in the nominations. I don't think that this time last year many of us would have predicted that The Beatles would have two Grammy Nominations for 2025. Their first nominations and awards came at the 7th Grammy Awards in April 1965. That’s an astounding 60 years ago.
The Beatles Grammy Awards and Nominations
The Beatles has two nominations this year for a new song from 2024. Last year saw the release of “Now And Then” as an astonishing single by The Beatles. It had never been released before and was created using AI technology with original recordings of work on an incomplete song from all four group members.
“Now and Then” created quite a sensation and took the group back to the top of the charts again. Funnily enough, it was around the same time as their old 1960s rivals, the Rolling Stones, were topping the album charts with a new release. Who said rock and pop was for the young?
By the time we include those two latest nominations at this year's awards, it brings their total up to 24 overall. Admittedly there is a long way to go to catch Beyonce’s record-breaking 99 nominations. The Fab Four so far have seven wins to their name ahead of Sunday’s event.
Again that is well behind Beyonce's amazing 32 wins. those 24 nominations and just seven wins may seem lower than you might have expected, but isn’t bad going at all for a band that officially broke up in 1970.

As the record of nominations and awards above shows, the fact that it is so long since The Beatles were together as a band is pretty irrelevant. Their three Grammy Award wins in 1997 came for a song that was finally completed long after the group broke up. And, of course, long after two of the four were no longer with us. So another win or two is not out of the question by any means.
